‘Fred’s Tie Dye’ is an indeterminate, dwarf (‘tree-type’) tomato plant with rugose, regular leaf foliage that produces medium-sized (5-6oz./150-180g), oblate, purple tomatoes with jagged gold and green stripes, and the deep crimson flesh of black tomatoes. Rich, intense, and balanced flavors, more acidic than sweet.
Developed by the members of the Dwarf Tomato Breeding Project from a cross between Dwarf Wild Fred and Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye made by Vince Lavallo and named ‘Messy’. It was selected and named by Vince.
