‘Grande De La Signora’ is a tomato with a very beautiful shape and a rich red color. It has a fascinating history, having been brought to the United States by an Italian emigrant who previously resided in the Adioni area of the province of Rome. Heirloom tomato historian Jim Wyant acquired the seeds for this tomato from Nadia Rossi of Como, Italy. This indeterminate variety features regular leaves and produces large, 11-14 oz (300-400g) fruits. ‘Grande De La Signora’ is versatile and suitable for various culinary uses. The tomatoes are very meaty, and flavorful, and boast a well-balanced, sweet taste—a true reminiscence of tomatoes from childhood. It is excellent for crafting tasteful tomato sandwiches. This midseason tomato typically matures in around 80 days.
