‘Peacekeeper’ is a delightful cherry tomato variety with golden yellow fruits weighing between 20-30g and 07-1 oz. These little gems are lauded for their intoxicating flavor profile, which combines sugary sweetness, fruity overtones, and a tangy twist.
The journey of ‘Peacekeeper’ began with a cross by the talented Blane Horton of Jackson, Mississippi, USA; it was then expertly cultivated and selected by the renowned German tomato enthusiast, Die TomatenLady. ‘Peacekeeper’ was named by Rimante Varkalaite-Bakiene and Die Tomaten Lady and baptized by Sue Larisch on August 19, 2023, during the Tomato Festival at Schlossgardens, Oldenburg, Germany. This variety is a testament to Mr. Horton’s and Die TomatenLady’s diligence and expertise and deserves a cherished spot in your garden.
Whether snacking straight from the vine or adding a burst of flavor to your dishes, this tomato is the perfect choice for those who appreciate the simple joys of homegrown goodness. Mid-season, about 70 days to maturity.
Die TomatenLady posted this on her Facebook page on August 21, 2023: ‘PEACEKEEPER – the name of the new tomato baptized on August 19th at Schlossgardens, Oldenburg Tomato Festival. In the summer of 2019, Blane Horton posted on Facebook about a tomato that he was breeding in addition to the Keyes series. He wasn’t happy with how it was developing, and to cut a long story short, he gave it to me. I started growing it in 2020 and had it in my garden for 3 years and I love it. Even when I lost 75% of all my tomatoes to blight this year, Peacekeeper is still a good plant. It is very productive, and tasty, and definitely deserves a place in the garden. So… thank you to Blane Horton for his hard work and thank you to the NW German weather for being good enough in the last 3/4 years for me to grow it on.’
